You know, I've made it a point for years now to not waste money going to movies unless I know it's going to be stupid and I know that the movie itself knows it's going to be stupid (think Sherlock Holmes as a recent example). Thus, the movie and I are sure to get along - I don't find myself disappointed by the movie's failure to assume intelligence on my part, and the movie can go home after the gig knowing it delivered, at the very least, a colorful and loud 88 minutes of non-condescending entertainment. Naturally, I see very, very, very few movies. Maybe one new one, in a theater, a year.

The sad thing is that I still have to sell this stuff at my job at B&N. If I can memorize this trailor, however, it'll mean that I can talk about every "hot" movie we sell just by filling in the blanks.

I knew there was a good reason for clicking the button.

Needs more pointless explosions because large fireballs going off in a major city push the drama of the plot without bringing in all of those police forces that have nothing to do with the major characters or the society they live in.

And dinosaurs and/or demons (demonic dinosaurs? Yes!) It needs some of those.

Wait - was there the evil corporation/gov't agency? If not, get that in there.

And fireballs. From demonic dinosaurs. From Alpha Whatever. In league with corporations, and government agencies.

And make the heroine an elf. A conflicted elf.

Alpacas. Every great film needs an alpaca or two

People have been saying for a few years, "Just wait - soon movie studios will be pushed aside just like the antiquated mainstream media news." I thought it might happen in the field of animation, where someone with a computer could create his own film without the help of a studio. But seeing this, I'm beginning to think that Hollywood's eclipse might be coming sooner rather than later. Look at this thing! The lighting, the sets, the actors, camera and filmstock (or whatever it was they used) - it all looks really professional! I would absolutely buy these scenes as something out of a big-name Hollywood studio - they look that convincing. This doesn't look like some earnest amateurs with a video camera, filming in their living room. It's smooth and polished.

So maybe a revolution is coming here too. The newspaper business used to be something that required big money: a huge building, tons of paper, giant typesetting machines, huge unionized workforce. Suddenly that all became obsolete. Maybe the barnacle-encrusted movie business, which requires multi million dollar budgets for each film, putting it out of reach of anyone but a big organized studio, is similarly on its way out.

Dr. Mabuse:

One thing the studios had is their distribution network. But now that is becoming obsolete when a theater can import the movie off of a server and play it from a computer directly to the projector.
