Gates made his reputation as an angry black man a la Al Sharpton; his novelty being he also has a doctorate. He has produced next to nothing as a scholar. Instead, he has devoted his time on Ivy League payrolls writing hip hop lyrics and shallow journalism. But he is pals with Obama, and that counts for a lot.
Posted by Banjo at July 24, 2009 5:54 AMWOAH! This is the highlight of my posting career to date - recognition on one of my favorites blogs. Thanks Gerald.
Posted by Sirius at July 24, 2009 5:57 AMSirius, you could, of course, return the favor by getting his name right. Just a thought.
Bumper stickers? Come on, aren't we trying NOT to be the same sheepish bums that the liberals have been?
Posted by Andy at July 24, 2009 8:32 AMGeeze, Andi. Oops. Andy.
I was on my way to Kinkos.
"Sheepish Bums"?
Look. We've been the butt of mean-spirited snarkiness for so many years now, that a bumper sticker with that little bit of push-back is JUST the ticket.
I'm tired of turning all 4 cheeks.
Time to polish a place on my bumper.
(the car's)
Gerard - My apologies for the egregious error.
Andy - thanks for making me aware of it.
Best Regards
Posted by Sirius at July 24, 2009 9:20 AMI hope that name correction didn't come off too harsh. It's a bit hard for me to be funny because, well, because I am not funny.
All four cheeks? You are too generous, Kathie. They only want the lower two.
Posted by Andy at July 24, 2009 10:19 AMHey I could make that slogan into little stickers for Mossberg 500 stocks, okay?
And don't worry, Sirius, everybody gets the name wrong. And few even attempt the last name.
Posted by vanderleun at July 24, 2009 10:34 AMThat'll work for me, G.
Sirius - look, I just go with first initials. It's how my stunted ghetto intellects masks my ineptitude behind a horribly thin veneer of creativity. Not to mention the wonderful familiarity it implies between me and the great Gerald Verdenfloon
Posted by Andy at July 24, 2009 10:57 AMInspired by this post, I came up with this: http://exurbanleague.com/2009/07/24/we-love-you-now-go-away.aspx
Posted by Exurbankevin at July 24, 2009 11:07 AMI believe I'd like something a little more strongly worded to express my extreme antipathy for the One.
I'm near to hating that skinny bastard.

" It's a bit hard for me to be funny because, well, because I am not funny."
That's funny ;-D
You're OK.
Posted by Cathy at July 24, 2009 1:48 PMGerald Verdenfloon. Snorfle.
Who says your not funny Andi.
Andy, Gerard,
You guys have me laughing out loud.
I think I'll go w/ GV from now on which...will be easy for me since mine are FGV!
Cheers
Posted by Sirius at July 24, 2009 4:06 PMSeems most are taking the first bumper sticker as a push back, but I think it's true. Even BEFORE the election, if you talked to people who supported Obama, many were against his policies...they still voted for him and still mostly support him, even though they still don't agree with most of his positions. It doesn't make sense, granted, but how do you explain sensibly this idiot being our president?
Posted by eddie at July 24, 2009 6:54 PMCongratulations on the Instalanche.
Posted by Morgan K Freeberg at July 24, 2009 7:50 PMSo where can we get one?
Posted by jim at July 24, 2009 8:32 PM"if you talked to people who supported Obama, many were against his policies..." Much the same can be said about Regan. For good or ill, many people vote for the person rather than for policies.
Posted by VoiceofReason at July 25, 2009 2:04 PMNo please - don't send him home. Aside from the murder rate, the South Side of Chicago has been so pleasant this summer. Can't we instead just send him to the Europe he loves so much? Please?
