Comment of the Day on October 9, 2009

Steps out of dugout and tips his cap to the crowd, which roars back its approbation. Turns around and grabs some bench, where he exchanges high fives and hugs with his teammates.

In retrospect I think the Nobel Committee would have done better to give the award posthumously to John Lennon for his great work towards world peace with the Amsterdam Bed-In. I mean, if you're going to give it to a self-absorbed nutter anyway, at least JL wrote "Cold Turkey".

Obama just went all in.

A community that will stand for such a tragic gesture as this is - while the Fourth Estate cheers even more loudly - won't resist anything.

Perhaps it may whine and ask for a little lube... another round of Obamabucks, maybe cash for old sneakers... but the community is officially defined by apathy now. The revolution will now accelerate.

Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

How long is it going to take some hard-digging journalist to uncover the fact that Obama knew he was getting the NPP, and has been dithering on Afghanistan in order not to spoil the effect?
Well, just keep checking the weather forecast in Hell for a blizzard warning, folks.

You make a good point sherlock. Does anyone know if recipients of the Nobel putty medals are notified of the awards before they are announced publicly, to enable them to indicate their unwillingness to accept if they deem it inappropriate - for whatever reason? And in Obama's case one can think of myriad reasons why not - in fact can anyone think of a single reason why it was appropriate?

I have to admit that I’m finding the whole thing highly amusing. I LOL’d when I heard the news on the radio while driving to work Friday morning, and I’ve been enjoying the commentary around the internet since.

Ridicule is a potent weapon against despots, and this has given us more ammunition than anything that has happened since the Prince of Peace took office. This is even better than the Olympic fail.

sherlock: I do believe you may be onto something.

Jumped the Shark?

Political reality is subcontracted to IL&M.

my understanding is that nominations for the NPP closed 11 days after BHO took office, so it's anyone's guess what the prize is actually being given for - my vote is it's an early Christmas (or would it be ramadan?) gift.

Great leaders understand the essence of timing. Think Kennedy with the Cuban missile blockade, Reagan at the Berlin wall, etc.

A leader must have a sense of timing, of when to rattle swords, and when to take real action. I mean, can you imagine Obambi as POTUS during the Cuban missle crisis, or giving the speech Reagan gave at the Berlin wall?

Now that Obama has been played by the Euro-elites, he is much more likely to equivocate and appease, for peace.

My fear is that he will over-react when confronted by the big boys on the block.

The irony of this so-called award is that Obama may be the biggest threat to world peace.

I'm consumed with curiosity over WHO nominated King Julian and WHEN. Anyone else? Google provides no answers - yet.
