Comments: Great Question
The patterns on the box? Don't think about them.
The design? It dispenses tissues. It works.
'It works' is man enough.

Provocative question, indeed!

It's quite simple really, women spend most of the money.

They are getting less femme; there are a few I have no problem placing on the table by my husband's easy chair--blue denim, green apples, chess sets.
Mostly I look for those earth tones; they seem to do the trick.
Actually, I buy those same not-too-femme boxes for myself, too: I have to be in the mood to femme out. And for some reason facial tissues don't do it for me.

Kleenex marketed a more "manly" tissue box perhaps 25-30 years ago. And the box and tissues were larger too. As I recall, one of the box designs looked like a treasure chest or cask.
But in my own bathroom right now (which I do NOT share with my husband) is a Kleenex tissue box that has skulls on it. Not what I'd called manly maybe, but not feminine either.
