Something Wonderful: The Post American Bandstand

Zo needs to sing from the diaphragm. He'll pass out if he keeps singing like that. Maybe he shouldn't be singing at all.

Pat Boone's still lookin' good. And he can self-parody, and laugh at himself better than anyone out there. I used to love to hate Pat Boone. Now I just plain dig the dude.

When I was in 6th and 7th grade (I stopped counting the decades), I used to run home from school to watch American Bandstand. I actually remember Pat Boone's appearances back then. So, this really cracked me up. Who cares whether Alfonzo can sing from the diaphragm, this is really funny.

I just showed the video to my son and he said, "Pat Boone, you mean the church TV guy?" Grrrrr! I had to explain to him that back in the day, the big controversy was, Pat Boone vs Elvis - Elvis vs Pat Boone. He just walked out shaking his head muttering, "Mom, you were weird back then."

American Bandstand with Pat Boone? I guess it was before my time! And it used to come on Saturday Mornings at noon.

In the 50's Pat Boone sang at my school, I handed out brass IKE campaign pins and watched Justine and Bob every afternoon on American Bandstand. Now I'm singing 'bama don't take my Medicare away!
