What's Not to Like About iOwnTheWorld.com?

Genius -- except I would substitute "orange jumpsuit water boarders" for patchouli.

Ho! Ho! Ho Chi Minh!

Circa 1967, as an undercover cop I joined an Aldermaston March from the Great West Road to a rally in Central London, rigged out as hippy and carrying a Ban the Bomb banner, in an attempt to find out the baneful intentions of the demonstrators when they reached the West End.

As we reached Kensington Gore, opposite the Albert Hall, my co-marchers broke into the 'Ho Chi Min Trot'and spread across the full width of the carriageway, resulting in a chaotic dispersal of the (mainly physically unfit) uniformed police accompanying the march and causing serious disruption to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The coppers therefore started to make mass arrests for 'breach of the peace' and fights broke out.

I decided to make myself scarce and sprinted off intending to phone in a report of the disturbance to Operations Room at the Yard. A six-foot-three Bobbie intent on 'hot pursuit' (he was one of the fit ones) managed to catch up and put his size twelve boot about four lace-holes up my jacksie. As he did so he shouted, "Ho! Ho! - Ho's that for centre, you commie cunt??!!

Spent a week on sick leave with a damaged coccyx. Still like to think he didn't recognise me. Never did find out what the marchers had in mind. Pretty sure they didn't know, either, but since then, whenever I hear, or read, the words 'Ho Chi Minh' I get a pain in the arse.

It's not just political rallies. I've also seen all these themes at major urban "festivals" (ethnic food, art, etc.) in both the U.S. and Australia. (The Aussie lefties always add something showing their "solidarity" with their favorite pets, the Aborigines, but I never detected any urge in these folks to join them in some isolated settlement in Arnhem Land or in the NT outback; tough to get lattes out there).

One modern country that doesn't tolerate this nonsense is Singapore. Say what you will about its single-party authoritarian system, lack of human rights, no free speech, canings, hangings, blah, blah, blah, it's still possible to attend a food festival or concert there and not get bombarded by lefty bullshit. Just don't act like an asshole, and you'll be fine. Which by definition excludes most leftists.

So true, Walt. Another place you can't avoid this kind of grubby, self-righteous idiocy is the designated weirdo neighborhoods of any big city: Fremont or Wallingford or the U district in Seattle, Virginia Street in Atlanta, Cambridge next to Boston, Frankfort and Baxter in Louisville, virtually all of San Francisco except the financial district, etc, etc.

A friend and I occasionally infiltrate these bastions of lunacy. The friend's background as a reformed hippie and my lobbyist's eye for humanity guarantee a delightful time at the zoo. Also a useful reminder what would happen if we turned the country over to these dingy children and their cleaned-up avatar in the White House.
