Totally cool dude.

Oh, hell yes!

Posted by David McKinnis at August 12, 2010 5:53 AMThere are some things you cannot fake!
Posted by Vermont Woodchuck at August 12, 2010 6:08 AMCompare this to your Barack's Totally Awesome Birthday Bash post and the contrast is stunning. Add in the Lady of Spain moment and the distance between the Bush's and the Obama's can only be measured in astronomical units.
Posted by Mikey NTH at August 12, 2010 6:31 AMW has always backed our troops- not because he has to, because he wants to.
When contacted on the golf course, Obama said "Of course I support the troops, when I don't have a vacation, huge birthday party with NBA stars or a golf outing already scheduled. Now watch this drive."
Posted by Matt at August 12, 2010 7:12 AMI miss him so much, it hurts... like a kick in the gut.
Posted by Western Chauvinist at August 12, 2010 7:45 AMGeorge and Laura are running the classiest sting operation ever. Not only do they show their own innate compassion and style, but they offer tantalizing glimpses of what the Bambis should and will not do.
Between Bill "Triangulator" Clinton and George "Gentleman" Bush, Obama could learn to save his soul, his presidency and the Democratic Party. Lucky for us he is far too arrogant to do any such thing!
Posted by raincityjazz at August 12, 2010 8:20 AMVW has it right. You can't fake that.
Posted by Eric Blair at August 12, 2010 9:50 AM"Lucky for us he (The Bambi and Michelle Antoinette) is far too arrogant to do any such thing!"
Have you ruled out stupidity? Affirmative Action babies (Both of them) do not correlate well with any measure of intelligence.
And they're just plain mean to boot...
So there!
Posted by Good Ole Charlie at August 12, 2010 9:54 AMMaybe they thought they had woken up from a very bad, very long nightmare and all was still right with the world? Nice to see a friendly face!
Posted by mark at August 12, 2010 10:24 AMI miss him. God, how I miss him!
Posted by Cilla Mitchell, Galveston Texas at August 12, 2010 11:29 AMI didn't always agree with him, but yeah, I miss him too.
And I agree: I think W is being very clever with his post-presidency. His silence in the face of the unending blame-game that is the Zero presidency speaks simultaneously to his grace and his successor's lack thereof. His action here, as well as his unheralded and concerned visit to the victims at Ft. Hood illustrates what a real President ought to have done himself.
Posted by azlibertarian at August 12, 2010 11:29 AMW has always demonstrated a core of decency that makes him an extreme rarity among the political class, especially those that rose to the level of the Presidency. Though I disagreed with many of his policy choices, he got the big ones mostly right. In my more depressed moments I try to imagine how much more hellish our present predicament would be if W had not managed to "steal" the Presidency from Algore. Serious alcohol consumption usually follows.
That Obama has managed to embody almost completely the Hitlerian archetype that the Dumbs spent 8yrs trying to groundlessly paint on W would be massively and sadly ironic if it weren't so tragic
Just looking at George and Laura's faces brings a huge smile to mine. A couple totally comfortable with who they are as opposed to the poseurs that occupy our white house today.
Posted by heinie1 at August 12, 2010 2:36 PMThe day that I had the privilege of meeting President Bush, being able to look him in the eye, and tell him "Thank You" ranks toward the top among the best of my life experiences.
May God continue to bless George W. and Laura Bush.
Posted by Aye Chihuahua at August 12, 2010 5:40 PMHe looks damned good.
Posted by Pappy at August 12, 2010 5:57 PMThe first PRESIDENTIAL photograph I've seen in 570 days that did not make me cringe.
Posted by M*A at August 13, 2010 6:29 AMThis cheered me up. Honor and decency again. Reminded me of that old saying about how virtue is what you do when nobody's looking. Yes, I do miss them both.
Posted by retriever at August 13, 2010 4:19 PMI love how the news media has not made any news about this but will tell everyone how Obama is playing basketball, golf and what he had for lunch. Maybe he will choke on his food we can only hope
