"Raising Airheadzona"

I watched the video of the girl. It sparked a memory of a television show that I saw when I was a kid, sometime in the late fifties or early sixties. It may have been a Twilight Zone episode, or perhaps a short from the Alfred Hitchcock series. A man had trained his young daughter to be the perfect actress. The girl could laugh, or cry on command. She could display any emotion instantly. The punchline comes at the end of the episode. The father suddenly dies; the girl pauses for a moment, and begins to laugh.

And that's how the kid in the video struck me. Every word, every inflection, every gesture was a re-processed and well rehearsed copy of someone she'd seen on TV. But she was just bad enough at the act to be creepy. An android with the gears showing. A Stepford child for the age of Oprah.

Is that a huge ribbon she's wearing, or the stuffing coming out of her head?

Gah. She's learned how to sound both ghey and creepy.

Jewel:
That same thing struck me after I had made my first post. Her affect is that of an obnoxiously effeminate man, not a girl.

Further evidence of The Great Inversion.

Like, wow! She sounds just like Meghan McCain. Look, we'll all be like Scarlett O'Hara, sewing our own clothes out of our curtains and bedding before this economy is finished with us. Nothing wrong with being creative if we are forced to spread our wealth around. I have a Christmas bow that looks a lot like her.. I guess it's a hair-accessory? And besides, someone will need to work the mills to manufacture clothing for all those successful Chinese engineers and scientists. It might as well be Americans.

She's a caricature inside a parody wrapped in a farce and the key is parental narcissism. - apologies to Mr. Churchill.

My God. I thought the valley girl had perished from an overdose of toenail polish fumes in the late 1980's, but no - the horror continues...
