Two questions I thought a little unfair; the number of Muslim majority countries and the HAMAS/houmus question. In the second case, the pronunciations are quite similar; especially in the case of the foreign students...

How is 'the number of Muslim majority countries' an unfair question? Even the dope in chief got within one of the correct answer.

After running the tykes through the progressive public elementary and high school systems, do you expect them to think critically?

Not that I could afford it, but I had to have lost at least 5 points off my IQ just watching that thing.

And excuses could be made for the kids had this been a backwater junior college somewhere, but when we are talking about a University ranked in the top 25? All reasoning human beings must arrive at the conclusion there is a very real problem(s) with in our education system, and it is not about the amount of money being "spent" per child. It is in the overall quality and quantity of what is being taught.

To be sure, there are other issues which dovetail into this. breakdown of parental authority, (proper) respect accorded to those in positions of authority (in this case teachers), societal breakdown (gangs and the like, out of wedlock parenting), along with other factors which escape me at the moment.

The point being a sound basic education (whether self taught, "home schooled", via the old one room school house, or something a bit larger) allowed for anyone to have a solid starting point from which to follow their dreams. In the last 20 years or so (and in some places much earlier than that) the process has deteriorated to such an extent, you now see average and below average kids being dumbed down to the lowest common denominator in any given class. And potential overachievers being fed Ritalin.

We have one of the "better" school districts in the state, both in what is available to the students as far as "learning tools/aids", teacher salaries, class size, and over all environment. Yet they are on the whole no more than slightly better then the average, State wide, in test results.

Sorry for the rant, the video, while humorous to a point, left me a bit uncomfortable, in what has been done across the country, to our kids, and how they are being (and what they are being) taught.

When I graduated from college in 1954, my knowledge of international relations was deplorable. My major was geology, my minor chemistry. I applied for Navy OCS four months after graduating and the recruiters asked me a bunch of foreign affairs questions. I couldn't answer many. I had no idea who Ho Chi Minh was. Eleven years later I was dropping bombs on his country, and understood why they had asked me about him.

Now keep in mind that these are the bright ones. The dumb ones go into education and pass on their great learning to the next generation.

That is one of the most frightening things I have ever seen. How is it possible the kids are that clueless? Can they not read?
