Something Slow and Cool: "New York, like all things, ebbs and flows. "

A few years back I was living just outside the city in Yonkers, and with a vehicle and no money, there was little I could afford to do in Manhattan - assuming I was able to find a place to park.

One lonely summer Saturday around 1 am, unable to sleep in my non air conditioned tenement, I hopped in my truck and drove down the Henry Hudson Parkway, under the GW, all the way down the West Side and back up the FDR, Harlem River Parkway and across Broadway into the Bronx - not a single stoplight, one long mix of jazz and hip hop mash-ups without even a single pretentious DJ break-in.

An experience of the city that stands out mainly because I not only had no alcohol to numb the senses, but it was a feat I was unable to replicate.

Looks like a civilzed place to live.

"Especially late nights, in a cab, going downtown, way downtown, and making all the lights."

Yes...the way the green lights move in clots reminded of doing a bubble-sort in FORTRAN.

And this bit from the Clash. They must've found the green-light bubbles fascinating.

Roll! Forward! Drive! Green lights! Green lights!
Intersection/ city coming/ running comeback/ home I run back...

Awright, Sipican-
You're handy enough to build damn near anything.
So get to work on the time machine, so I can get the hell out of this century.

I'm just in one of those moods.
