Over vs. Under: The Summing Up

I think Ann Landers covered (cundered?) this, Mr. V.

The complaint round the castle Atkins is that there isn't one on the dispenser when you need it the most.

Ah, the age-old bathroom question: A-wind or B-wind toilet paper? I guess it's kind of a chicken/egg thing.

Never had this problem with the Sears catalog.

Under. Definitely more civilized.

I'm not taking a shot at Don Rodrigo here, but I've always held that "under" was a trait of babysitters, mothers, and all other species of female.

A (OVER) wins because B (UNDER) is endorsed by a dead celebrity.

"Cundered". Not a word, but it ought to be.

"I hate to tell you, bro, but she's had you cundered from day one."

"Say that to me again, you cundered little cockbite!"

I'm with Mike James on this.

LOL. The first time I ever knew there was a controversy about over/under was after I was single and exploring the world of dating again after 32 years of marriage and 2 years of grieving. A friend gave my name to an acquaintance and we hit it off on the first phone call. However, we kept it to phone calls for about 3 weeks. During that time there were a lot of questions like what is your favorite color, where did you grow up, go to school, your fav authors, etc. Then one night, he asked, do you hang your toilet paper over or under.

If you understood how little I pay attention to such things, you would fully understand my reaction. I thought it was the dumbest question I'd ever been asked. Worse, I had to go look to answer. Turns out I'm an OVER. This was not the right answer and we never did go out.

To this day, I'm still amazed that this question is something people seem to care about. My attitude is that there are only two things in life worth hating, liars and wet toilet paper. So as long as it is dry, I'll take it anyway it's hung.

under.

But who in hell cares enough about it to make it an issue?

Sheesh!

Posted by pdwalker at May 10, 2011 10:50 PM

My cats like it either way; over or under, it's sure to be shredded if I leave it in the holder. Therefore, the correct answer at my house is "in the cabinet under the sink".

OK, I'll admit it, I do not and have never paid the slightest attention in hanging toilet paper, mine or anybody else's. There is no dignity to be found in shitting that has not already been afforded by Thomas J. Crapper.

Yes, I leave the seat up also, and proud of it. If the seat were supposed to be down Thomas would have designed it that way.

Over.
& out

Preference: Over. Under makes it harder for me to get hold of the paper.

Disagreement: No wall friction on under, some friction on over--diameter of roll is same regardless, and pulling outward means no wall friction. I say it's a wipe either way.

To clarify the matter, consider paper towels instead of toilet paper.

If they have a printed design, you only see it if you hang it over.

QED.
