Global Cooling Redux or "I said oh no no I been through this movie before"

Oh, *now* NASA gets 'round to mentioning the Maunder minimum.

Warming, cooling, whatever.

Lost in all this is the fact that we humans are so friggingly adaptable by nature that we have gotten to the pinnacle of evolutionary success we enjoy now. The Left has a problem with this -- the rest of us don't.

If the "Little Ice Age" (and it won't really be an Ice Age) scenario pans out and does so in the time frame envisioned, it means I will be alive to laugh my ancient ass off. I hope that at that time mobs of irate citizens in N. America and Europe linch the bastards responsible for the expensive monumental fraud that AGW has become. For Al Gore (if a masseuse hasn't killed him first) it will require an extra-thick rope.

We should start using the term "Mad Scientist" more often.

I think Jerry Pournelle wrote a novel called "Fallen Angel" about a future where the government has adopted the greenie line and fully implemented the anti-warming agenda only to arrive at a future where the earth is cooling and all their efforts do is aggravate the situation. Of course the bureaucrats in the story act as one would expect real bureaucrats to behave: they refuse to acknowledge any error and continue to push the anti-warming guff even in the face of glaciers encroaching on American cities and month-long blizzards.

Personally I am hoping the planet is warming a little. I get too many aches and pains with cold weather and find this is only becoming more of the norm as I advance in age. And plantlife seems to do a lot better under the sun and a lot worse under the snow.

Oh no.. all this will do is fuel the Global Warming goons. They will blame this on SUV's and bovine emissions. I already can't afford to drive my gas guzzler. And now I see the life of my filet mignon habit flashing before my eyes. Warming, cooling... never fear...Big Government and The Long (and well armed) Arm of The United States EPA are here to save us. Got a bike lane? Good. Get on your bike and ride to your local trendy organic farmers market for all your vegetarian needs... only be sure and pack your parka and snow chains, just in case.

Sunspot activity clearly is affected by mankind, though we have not yet determined exactly how. We must gather a panel of "experts" to demonstrate why we are to blame for the rate of sunspots, and how by eliminating anything that is not solar or wind powered, we can save the planet from the sun's erratic activity.

*end sarcasm*

Don Rodrigo:
I think you may have hit on something. Yes, humans are adaptable by nature. But a centrally-planned, command-and-control society is not adaptable. No wonder the leftists are so anxious to "do something" to fight climate change, instead of just sitting back and allowing people to adapt on their own, as would naturally happen in a freer, more decentralized society.

Great! So let me get this straight.

My coming golden years are going to be spent indigent due to the bankruptcy of social security and the looting of my life savings by bankers and politicians, sick due to the collapse of our health care system, homeless due to the evaporation of equity in my house, hungry due to rampant inflation, sexless due to...well...being in my golden years and to poor to purchase Viagra. And now they say I have to be cold as well?! Nice work children of the "Greatest Generation"!

I predict that Boomers still alive in the year 2025 will be treated by their fellow citizens as their parents would have traitors and draft dodgers post WWII. Pelted with garbage and spat upon if lucky.
