“But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future

Can we draft her for President?

Rickl,

I was just thinking the same thing prior to seeing your post. She is presidential material.

No, Effin' way, folks. We need this woman as an Outlaw Rebel Leader. Quit thinking that we can fix the government by just sending the right people. We need the right people for the resistance. Dammit, where's my rebel yell?

One of the problems conservatives have is chucking forms of thought that no longer work. Our government is completely broken and needs brought down. It will fall under its own corruption, but we need people who understand the constitution and principled governance. What we need are Rebel leaders. Men and women of conviction who inspire, encourage, who live the talk. We don't need more Republican candidates. We need independent thinkers who aren't going to Washington, but into their communities when Washington falls.

AMEN Jewel! People are afraid of what will happen if they stand up. They better be more afraid of what will happen when they DON'T STAND UP.

It is just as easy to shoot you in the head if you are on your feet or on you knees. Posted by Peccable at July 4, 2011 4:54 AM

"as an Outlaw Rebel Leader," Jewel ??

Nay - we need people like her to help RESTART our original revolution.

Posted by Jimmy at July 4, 2011 7:53 AM

We don't have to have a Revolution yet.

The communists sitting in the White House, and their enablers entrenched in their pop ramparts and government catacombs reside there largely on the grace extended by the apathetic majority.

There is still room for redress by election and leadership. Still.

I don't think we'll go that way, though.

It will come to blood. Just not nearly as much from the "right" as the mewling, posing Left is dreaming of...

A coup. Not an administration.

At least Hitler, Stalin, and Mao were intellectually honest enough to embrace truth that it is the power they seek.

I believe that the vast majority of our Left - including The Won - still think that they are serving some higher purpose. Their upbringing, their amoral code of living, it all strives to separate the world into the victim, the oppressor, and the liberator. And who doesn't want to be a liberator? Who doesn't want to share their better way?

Soros and Ayers laugh all the way to the trash bin of history.

And laugh.

If only the parasites infested the government where they could be safely ejected into the unemployment vortex. Even if there was room for redress, it might come before total collapse.

As for all the commies, unfortunately, they are entrenched in every orifice of the land, from the local level to the federal. They are the invisible armies of automaton-functionaries who rubber stamp the edicts, they are the teachers, the inspectors, the entire bureaucracy. They are the legions of congressional aides who actually make the laws.

Ann is brilliant in that she understands that you have to defy all these absurd regulations and laws. Just do it. They are made by decree without consult and enforced without consent. But never protested in any meaningful way. There is no fixing this mess. It is going to collapse and it will not be a beer hall putsch that does it.

I really wish people would quit invoking the last great war as template. We simply don't know what history is in the future.

Will it be a truckers blockade of DC, as I vainly hope it will?

Will it be the mass exodus of homeowners just throwing in the towel?

Will it be the mass removal of children from the public schools in the suburbs when parents have just. had. enough?

I don't know what it will be.

We need people like Ann in the front of this revolt. And it must be a popular revolt. Tea Parties are not enough. A real tax revolt will come. But will people decide to violate the insane laws coming? I hope so, even if the only reason is to have free housing and medical care and weekly conjugal visits in the slammer.

The July 4th spirit is alive and well judging by all the excellent posts I have read today.

There is a common thread among us, and the "dick" in the White House and his minions do not have the power to eradicate the spirit of freedom we cherish and will not give up at any cost.

Posted by Cilla Mitchell, Galveston Texas at July 4, 2011 2:05 PM

Here, here, Cilla! Let it be known far and wide that today is Emasculation Proclamation Day! Down with Dick!

Posted by Jewel at July 4, 2011 6:18 PM

Well, it's July 5th now. Now that you've had your little play, kiddies, come home to mummy and swear allegiance to HM Queen Elizabeth II, your legitimate head of state. :)

Posted by Fletcher Christian at July 4, 2011 11:07 PM

Why? Because it worked out so well for Prince Charles?

Posted by vanderleun at July 5, 2011 12:10 AM

Maybe Fletch would have us believe this.

Posted by Jewel at July 5, 2011 6:45 AM

vanderleun - Sorry for not making it more obvious that the comment was a joke. Which was why I waited until July 5th, by the way (at least by my watch). Posting it on July 4th would have been... inappropriate.

Jewel - I can well believe pretty well everything in that link. And today's Britain is considerably more tolerant than large parts of America. Perhaps too tolerant, sometimes. Also, our police don't act like thugs in uniform quite as often as yours, apparently.

Can anyone think of a way of making something like PMQ's part of the routine of Congress? I've seen quite a few Americans say that it might be a good idea.

Posted by Fletcher Christian at July 5, 2011 7:21 AM

None of you got it that Fletch was kidding?

FWIW: I think Fletch knows that a majority of today's Americans, including a large majority of the political class and elites, would never have rebelled against the Crown 250 years ago.

Also, remember: Fletch led a successful mutiny against a representative of the Crown himself, and esconced himself and crew to Pitcairn. :-)

Posted by Don Rodrigo at July 5, 2011 10:10 AM

Don Rodrigo - Sure, I do think that most of the political elites would stay in with the Crown. Most of them are utterly spineless, for a start - and that includes the GOP ones.

The wheel turns. Taxation without representation was one of the chief causes of the American Rebellion; representation without taxation may well be the cause of the next revolution. Not just in the USA, either.
