Recall how we were told that the Soviet Union was financially sound and powerful all during the 1980's, that resisting its hegemony in Europe, mostly Eastern but leaking westward, and elsewhere in the world was folly, etc., etc. And then the Wall was down and the Potemkin state stood revealed, and then it was simply gone.

Look familiar?

So, let me get this straight.

The projects were developed by the government in anticipation of the economic growth of a population it suppresses and when that failed, the government continued the development in antipation of economic growth of a population it either can't or won't pay enough to utilize the projects they develop?

Sounds like Obama's vision for America. He did say it would be easier to be president of China.

What gets me is the guy who insisted owning a home is one of the basic human rights. Human right? In China? I hate to break it to him that he isn't in Amerikkka where Brother Obama grants champagne wishes and caviar dreams and Obama-money falls down from the government like manna from heaven. I mean.. where Obama spends money as if he is the president of China.

Hmm.. maybe we are all Chinese now. Because my upper middle class planned community is looking more and more like a ghetto with every passing day that Obama is president. And to think.. my then-employed-blue-state-transplant neighbors were all so very pleased with themselves in 2008 they voted for the first black-ish POTUS.

One of those fellows in this report who cannot possibly afford a place of his own believes the government should intervene. Probably, they all do. It does not occur to him that the government has already intervened.

That is why even disaster will not cure China of its faults. Nobody knows that liberty was the root of all success in the West, not luck and pixie dust. The Chinese have never been fans of liberty.
