Schmuck Trek: How the Republican Primaries Will Come to Imitate Critical Moments from "Ghostbusters"

I'd vote for the Stay-Puft guy in a heartbeat.

(I would. Really.)

I think that's our best-case scenario.

The people of the United States have already elected a communist revolutionary. There is no ridicule worthy of topping that, and no candidates either.

Except Mr Stay-Puft should really be the Republican establishment, the supposed enforcer of evil (conservative principles), which makes the goofy Ghostbusters the Democratic Party. That doesn't turn out well for our side.

Jewell, good call. You might get a yeast infection that way.

I initially read Palin-Paul to mean Palin-Paul Ryan, a ticket which would be a magnificant pairing (either-or. . . Ryan Palin or Palin Ryan)

"What could possibly go wrong?"

The mind boggles.

I'm a retired academic and would like for a moment to bring your attention to the level of cognitive activity that Gerard and the readers of this blog have brought to bear when they interpreted this content today. Notice that we're not looking at syllogisms or other logical forms described by the world's great philosophers and logicians over the past centuries. The connections a reader/viewer has to make here are infinitely more complex!!

So how is it that such incredibly smart people are immersed in a political culture that is so horribly stupid? The disconnect between the high level of cognition a typical reader of this blog brings to bear on understanding the content of this blog each day and the low level of political, social, and economic thought demonstrated by politicians is enormous. Why?

Unfortunately, it is because elections have consequences.

Oh yeah - this could be wrong:

Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.

Maybe it's not stupid, Gloria. Have you ever considered that you're the one who's getting it wrong? I'd venture to guess that, at one time or another, most of us here have been some form of Leftist. You need to read more widely.

That still of Weaver: the big-hair '80s. Remember that? And she looks like an ingenue. Good times.

Palin, you betcha! Paul, you're showing your ignorance.
