Stand

This Matt Labash piece from Weekly Standard is very well done. The stories about his dinner with Bill Ayers are hilarious.

The most telling tribute to Breitbart may be from Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi in his attempt at a slam. I won't provide the link that I hit via Big Hollywood lest some innocent mind be twisted.

Taibbi focused on the encounter between Weiner and Breitbart at Weiner's new conference. Taibbi was rather disappointed that Weiner chose to apologize to Breitbart. The apology, of course, had nothing to do with Weiner's exposure of himself. He had denied that the picture Breitbart had was actually his, and Weiner thought the media would back him in smearing Breitbart. Andrew was a step or two ahead and the attack failed, thus Weiner was forced to acknowledge that he had lied in calling Breitbart a liar.

Taibbi emphasized the contrast between the trim, clean-cut Weiner in his expensive suit and Breitbart's open collar and shaggy, disheveled look. Remember, this is the Che-loving Rolling Stone -- the Left's pulp magazine of record, the fountainhead of '60's protest, Thompson-esque Gonzo journalism. Yet Taibbi is on the side of the lying, hypocritical Establishment guy with the $400 haircut and the $1200 Tanino Crisci shoes and against the slightly out-of-shape, scruffy revolutionary.

They never wanted a revolution. They wanted the power for themselves. People like Taibbi are scared to death of a real man like Andrew Breitbart who will live free and die unchained.

Yesterday was a continuous stream of tears and speechlessness but today we're starting to have Breitbart-esque fun. What about Matt Taibbi's Wiki page being hacked??? Sharing Breitbart's last laughs... priceless.

I noticed at the end of the Gielgud video they have listed a video of Alan Bates doing "Invictus". I clicked on it, and listened to Bates reciting it. He is almost the image of the rendering of Breitbardt directly above, with the same length hair and wonderful face, and I believe that the video is almost like Breitbardt himself speaking of the way he lived his life. It gave me chills to see it and listen. If you can see the choice, click on it so you see it here, directly under "The Most Interesting Man in the World".

If you can't access it here on American Digest, you can see it at

(I'm sorry I don't know how to make it clickable.)

Minta,
Having had the great pleasure of meeting both Alan Bates and Andrew Breitbart, you're probably right.
Bates was much older, and more beautiful, though.

Fausta,

I am quietly envious. I would have given a lot to have met them. (And Bates was gorgeous, wasn't he.) Cherish your memories, good memories are true wealth. Even those touched by the sadness of these last few days.

Minta,
Alan Bates is the most beautiful man I've ever met.
