Slavery notwithstanding, I'd like to meet the marketing genius who thought this was a good idea.
Shackles on shoes? WTF? It looks more like a modern sculpture.

Not slave shackles;
Ankle shackles have one chain connected between the ankles to prevent running.
The apparatus shown (a prototype) is to prevent a thief from removing the shoe while being mugged.
Retail models have stainless chains with locks.
A brilliant idea from Adidas research & marketing department, designed to promote and support misunderstood urban WIGGERS.
