What a wonderful lack of confusion about their national heritage and identity. They didn't learn it in school, obviously. They learned it in blood.

What I can't figure out is this: After all the benefits of socialism, as it was given to them first by the Germans and then the Russians, they still haven't become like Britain: Self-loathing, badly educated and culturally suicidal. Clearly they haven't done socialism right.

And then there is the statue of Ronald Reagan that the Poles erected last year in his honor.

I should really try to get to Poland one day.

Poland, under-appreciated by a lot of people. They just keep plugging away, performing above their assumed weight, over and over and over.
Here's to Poland, may she remain free forever!

The civilized world owes a lot to Poland.
