Logan is a very tough cookie. She is the reporter who was famously beasted upon by 200 celebrants in Tahir Square after Mubarak was deposed.

It is extremely difficult to fight a successful counterinsurgency when the insurgents have a safe haven in a neighboring country. That, plus trying to fight a manpower-instensive war on the cheap, have allowed the Taliban to rebound when we had them on the ropes in late 2001.

The wider problems of Islamic terrorism and Sharia encroachment, different sides of the same coin, have to be confronted whenever and wherever they are found in the West, politically if possible, with automatic weapons, if necessary. Islam has no answers to the problems of the human race; it is stuck in a 1400-year-old time warp that hasn't changed appreciably since the days Mohammed walked the earth. All it has is force. Islam can only win if we abandon the field. But too many in the West are willing to do just that.

American Political leaders need to say this over and over again till they understand. The only way to win a war is to defeat the enemy army, occupy his country, and control his people. If we don't have the political will to do these things, we ought not fight a war.

Before she gives this speech again, if she does, she should correct her chronology. The attacks on our embassies in Africa took place in 1998; the USS Cole attack took place in 2000. Other than that, she nailed it.
