As a past veterans counsellor dealing with PTSD and drug abuse, I would not advise a vet suffering from PTSD to use a gun or have one nearby. Flashbacks can be dangerous, ask those vets who suffered from PTSD that are now incarcerated for killing someone.

I don't see anything in the least contentious.
The whole thrust of the Right's defense of gun ownership after Sandy Hook is that you keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill, rather than ban them.
