Comments: Writers are lousy predictors of the future
Well, that's one reason for writing SciFi. At the risk of misrepresenting him, Orson Scott Card, another highly regard SciFi author, has said that one of the reasons he prefers to write in that genre is that it allows him to write about what are essentially religious themes without the overt trappings of religion and all their concomitant baggage that would otherwise get in the way of the story and/or turn off sections of his audience.
