Cookies for sleep and blackberrry crumbles for eight hour pain relief? Is this marijuana or oxycodone? I thought you had to smoke the stuff. And we all know what long term smoking does to our lungs. But cookies and blackberry crumbles as medicines that are helpful?
The article says pharmaceutical companies are going to get into the business. I thought pharmaceutical companies wouldn't touch anything that couldn't be patented. Is Marijuana really a wonder drug? Or are we being led down the path to Perdition? I have no experience with marijuana (have never even smoked cigarettes) so I'm wondering where we're headed.

I had a friend that grew medical marijuana for his own use. (He's a paraplegic, caused by a logging accident, and pot is the one thing that keeps his legs from spasming.) I have some experience with pot and I've also smoked his.
The strains of medical marijuana have a much different high than what most folks are familiar with. They are designed to ease pain and help people sleep. It's really a drugged feeling, where you feel immobilized. I didn't find it at all enjoyable. So in answer to your question, yes it's real medicine and can be tailored to treat specific conditions. Taking pot as an edible really isn't all that different from the old pot brownie days. It's just harder to regulate dosage when you eat the stuff. Hope this helps explain the reason that some states are legalizing it. There are real medical uses for pot.

Thanks, Teri. This could be a wonderful thing. I've been reading some short stories that show how our vets from Iraq and Afghanistan are being affected by PTSD. Something to help them sleep and to ease both psychic and physical pain would be a God send. Could marijuana fill the bill? Let us hope.

Yeah, I'd say they could develop a strain for that. Something with a light, happy high, very laid back. Marijuana is a very interesting plant. It can be manipulated in a lot of ways.
It was a mistake for the Feds to decide that there was no medicinal use for pot. The first thing the Feds should do is reclassify pot and allow medical research into using it.
