Being There: Edwardian London and Cork

Stunning. The enhancement removes any cartoonish quality common to films of the era and shows plainly the nuances of human interaction, and of the equipment of the time. I saw a WWI clip with similar treatment and was very moved by the transformation.
Excellent work.

The faces of the kids never change. The smiles of the women in the last crowd can also be read across both eras. The men's faces are much harder to read. My first reaction was that they were suspicious. But maybe it was curiosity fighting with a culture that didn't allow a man to show emotion in public.

Nice, but it suffers from an infection of PBS documentary music.

Fascinating, keeping in mind that every single person you see in this video is dead today. Every one.
Those 5, 6, and 7 seven year old boys would be going off to the Great War in another 14 years. I wonder how many of those we see here perished in that war.
Everybody wore hats. Count the number of bare heads you see in these scenes. How times have changed.
Yes, this is a wonderful bit of work.
Thanks, Gerard

I was surprised by the lack of horse caca on the streets. And the women look sexy even in their long dresses.

Almost no fat people. Nor does anyone look undernourished.

Wow ! We have so little of the past. Those that document and preserve do a great service.

Progressives want to be special so they don't look at the past and truly learn. Their hauteur covers fear.

I was about to mention the troubling lack of diversity but this Youtube commenter beat me to it:
