The Spielberg Method

There are things to do and lives to live.

In this information age the signal to noise ratio needs to get as high as you can make it, with the dream (within the individual) being to most compact and condensed story told.

Words, music & visuals seems to be todays most powerful conveyors of information. A beautiful example of this would be the "Fight of the Century: Keynes vs. Hayek Round Two" video where they were able to - in a very short period of time convey two distinct and disparate economic theories and make it interesting to ordianry folk at the same time (quite a miracle I would say).

Emotions are just one language of the mind - and a very powerful one indeed. The most important thing to know is that we are fundamentally emotional creatures and that the emotions really are a combination of thoughts, beliefs and needs bundled together in the vessel of an emotion (which is an important driver for an action). "Those who do not think, must feel". If you realize that, you are more free of the manipulation of your emotions by another, thus a better BS detector.

In other words - Know thyself. Not all things that 'move' you are in your best interest. The Hollywood liberals know this.

Nice video, Gerard.

Definitely a great director. Directorial debut with awesome with Duel. But the film is much better if the story is left to someone else, eg Richard Matheson.

Emotion? There is something to that, I'm always hoping that the kids in his movies will die, hopefully in five minutes or so. What annoying brats. The movies themselves, even the serious ones, are childish, reflecting, I think, a fundamental immaturity in the directory. But enough, one can always walk out on his movies, and I have.
