"Pictures of Matchstick Men" (#65) was a hit in 1989 for Kamper Van Beethoven, but it was a cover . The original was penned by Francis Rossi and recorded (Pye 7N 17449) by his group the Status Quo, who took it to Billboard #12 in spring '68.
