Regular Car Reviews: 1988 Chrysler New Yorker

An example of trying to bump up a small cheap car to the luxury market that was utter fail? The Cadillac Cimarron. A Chevy Cavalier that looked exactly like a Cavalier with a different trim package.

Now, I did have a Plymouth Horizon, and it actually was a sturdy little beast that actually...did what it was supposed to do and did not fall apart before age (6 years) and an accident did it in. Without the accident it would have gone on....

God, I don't know how long it would have gone on - about a 150,000 on the odometer, five speed manual transmission - and it just kept going.

Worst car I ever owned was made by Chrysler, a "cab-forward" Dodge purchased new in 1994. It looked good and drove well, but the build quality and parts reliability were abysmal. In less than a month, the windows had come off their tracks, the motor for the windows had to be replaced, the a/c unit conked out (in a southern summer), parts on the dash and in the cabin fell off, you get the idea. It was all covered under warranty, so it never cost me anything except time and aggravation, but I traded it less than a year later for a Ford Contour that never let me down.
