If you want to play the game you must first read the directions. If you can't read phonetically or write cursively, just scribble down anything and submit!!! Your "Common Core" education will be self-evident....

No, the kid has a better grasp than the establishment. In Tocqueville's America he would have been working since the age of twelve, continually occupied and always eager to learn in getting ahead with the practical education of working. Now millions of souls are malformed in an educrat racket which has itself been malformed toward that task.

In 1952, I did that with weekly five-page-minimum term papers in American History, only I copied long passages from Saturday Evening Post for pages 2-. I only got B's, but grading was harder in those days.

In college I hand wrote 25 pages, one page each on the 25 most significant US Supreme Court cases. About in the middle, I put one sentence: "Professor _____, if you are reading this please check here." There was no check, and I got an "A" (which it rightfully deserved); I know he didn't read all of it, and that he wouldn't. The difference, though, between that and this is I did all the work and threw in an aside; that student didn't do all the work.

I didn't even put that much effort into the thing, I just wanted out. Now. But I did graduate, from 2 schools at the same time.

The first paragraph was insightful. Printing instead of cursive must be tiring and hard to get your thoughts down fast enough.

In junior engineering lab I did one of the requisite 50 page typed reports (this was in the halcyon era of punch cards, so neither phototypeset nor searchable) involving a heat transfer experiment that used a light bulb as a piece of the apparatus. For about pg 10-40 I used the spelling "lat bub". In the "Errata et Addenda" section of the appendices, buried in the FORTRAN source code, I enumerated each occurrence of "lat bub" and amended the correct spelling. Of course I was testing the Prof. Of course he noticed. The front page of the graded report had the word "Funny" written in red ink. With the "F" circled, along with every damn "lat bub" in the report. They don't make 'em like they used to! PS - had to repeat the course the following semester in order to graduate. Moral - do NOT dick around with core requirements!
