Saturday Matinee: Roy Rogers - Hoppy, Gene And Me We Taught You How to Shoot Straight

Mom took me to see his show at the old Pan Pacific Auditorium. Best afternoon of my young life!

When I look at that picture of Roy and Dale, I have to say, he does looks more like a 'Leonard' than a 'Roy'. (Yeah, it's subjective.)

The owner of the sales rep agency for my company in SoCal looks eerily like the Dude, which I never fail to remind him when I see him

*SNIFF*
I think I'll go brush off my Stetson and clean my Winchester while listening to these songs.
Nah, I'll just sit here and cry.

OT: Saturday was the first time on the water this year - standard patrol, went from the Detroit River Light at Lake Erie to buoys 7 and 8 in Lake St. Clair. Had to wear the mustang suits because the water temps were between 50 and 60 and the air temps were not much better. We saw freighters going by, and a lot of fishermen. Pointed out all of the landmarks along the river to a trainee, and I thought "My pay is joy for being out here and satisfaction for doing a job well done."

And that is it - USCG AUX: if you aren't enjoying what you do, you are doing it wrong.*

*(If I had been wiser I would have gone active duty with the Coast Guard when I was 18; but that was then; back when I was young and dumb. Now I am middle-aged and dumb; only a little less dumb.)
