Went in with the 82nd and got out with the 101st.
At the time the 101st was the only unit to wear colors on their field uniforms – they want the enemy to know how they are.

I met another Private Ryan (that's really his name) who was there. Fascinating.

Our President is not worthy enough to lick the dog crap off of this man's shoe.

Yeah, I'm bitter. January 2017. I hope our nation can survive.

In a cage fight between Sgt. Martin and five Pajama Boys, my money is on Sgt. Martin, even at age 93.

“In great deeds, something abides. On great fields, something stays. Forms change and pass; bodies disappear; but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls… generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field, to ponder and dream; and lo! the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls.”

― Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

I knew these men. They were the Cops on the corner, the one-armed teacher in the classroom and the drunk under the bridge with haunted eyes. Then I didn't understand. Today and dimly I think I do.

Thank You.
