Farther down in his article Remus describes the Middle Class when they resort to violent resolutions: "... The middle class is known, condemned actually, for carrying out violence with the efficiency of an industrial project where bloody destruction at any scale is not only in play, it's a metric ..."
Smart people that can kill efficiently and without hesitation will resolve much of the feral threat.
