Comments: Why is modern Science Fiction so bad?

The literature and art are so bad because the authors and artists are lousy. Many of them are products of the new schools and can only express feelings at a whiny level and never had to compete, much lose some competition.

All those Childs-not-left-behind? They are our artists and authors and bankers and doctors and the guy that fixes the brakes on your car. Quality level is dropping so much that soon the thing'll be broken before you buy it, save you the trouble of having it break. Pre-broken, yeah, I like that.

The other reason quality is so poor is the quality level of the end-user, the consumer is poor. Cheap stupid people expect and get cheap and stupid products.

Walk into any home with an 8 yo and you'll see the $1800 stainless steel fridge littered with "art" specimens from that special snowflake. Another 10 years or so of fake adulation for this unique little angle and s/he will be ready for the big time where self annointed know-it-alls write 2000 word *Seinfeld* tomes honoring their efforts at MOMA.

**Words about nothing.

I have an adult daughter who is actually selling enough paintings to live on the proceeds in NYC. Oddly, her work, though modern in tone, is figurative and quite lovely. Apparently there is still a market for beauty here and there.
It was a great article.
