Comments: You could be like Ray Kurzweil, self-absorbed and dreaming of paying bemused men in lab coats to Ted Williams your noggin after you shuffle off this mortal coil,

That speaks to a growing fear I have: as I get older I am not convinced of the efficacy of youth.
They can't even handle being young without screwing up or falling over. Sex — money — power are such alien concepts, they might as well be in there with Snow White, waitin' for that kiss.
The fear, yes, that as I get old I must rely on others to correct my vision or remove a tumor or repair the brakes on my car or prepare the food I eat or manage my finances. My fate and future are held by young'uns that can't find their asses with their hands tied behind their backs.
I am at that time of life (68 yrs) when contemporaries are beginning to die, folks my kids' age are looking at retirement and grandkids are doing things I used to think should be done by adults.
My uncle Louie Lozko, we all called him "Letsgo Lozko", he raised bantam chickens right up until the day he died. He usta say "If time didn’t go by so fast I wouldn’t dwell so much in the past."

My concern as well. It's doubtful I'll be their guinea pig. The tough part is deciding when, but then, maybe I'll know when I get there.
