This is exactly the situation that thousands of young American volunteers faced in the late 1930's, when they answered the call of the Communists in Spain. They went to fight 'fascism'. But they lost, and lost badly. Not many returned.
Thousands of disaffected American boys were recruited and signed up, only to be used as machinegun fodder charging Spanish trenches. American girls, too — who weren't told that their job was to be comfort women, to keep the boys in line.
Of course, the Communists, being Communists, never told them who was behind the recruiting. They put the recruits into companies with names like 'The Abraham Lincoln Brigade'.
The only difference now is that the Islamists don't need to use subtrefuge. They can get disaffected Americans and European boys to answer the call of the mullahs.
But their fate is exactly the same: they are machinegun fodder, used for fighting the Russian-backed Syrian government, or rival militias. Not many will return alive. But those that do will be fully prepared to cause havoc.
There is still no evidence that any mullahs' sons are on the front lines. Why send your own kids, when stupid American kids are willing to be slaughtered? The mullahs have different plans for their own boys.
Those plans do not include having Americans in any future positions of authority. The job of the American volunteers is to die for Allah — which in reality means dying for despicable, uncivilized 7th Century savages, who use their religion as a thin veneer to excuse their bloodthirsty pillaging and murder.
American volunteers are merely the mullahs' useful idiots for the time being; tools for the conquest. When the Islamists are done with them, they will be discarded without a second thought — if they are not simply liquidated for convenience, like the poor bastards who dug tunnels for Hamas.
Arab Islamists could not care less about American volunteers; truth be told, they secretly despise them. They will get rid of them when the time comes, just like they dispose of other inconvenient chumps.

Sounds like the same process used to recruit a local college student here in Ottawa. He was said to hang out a lot in the university prayer room. A Muslim student invited him to his mosque, but he firmly refused. Next thing you know, he's in Syria with ISIS. Looks like there's no longer a reliance on actual physical meeting places to brainwash these kids. The enemy has found a way to circumvent the "hotbed of radicalism" mosque as a focal point that can be watched and infiltrated.

The more that die there, the fewer that will die here. At some point, the mullah's kids will have to come out and play.
