As Mark Levin frequently says, Liberals think you aren't smart enough to pick your own groceries, automobile, light bulb, etc, but they think you ar smart enough to vote.

I get your point chas, but my greatest ownership is my own life. I'll presume the same for everybody else. The first MF that tries to own me, with frying pan or otherwise, will find out.
Somewhere along the line a whole bunch of people have lost sight of this ownership of self concept and it therefore is not held paramount. The reality is that idea, self ownership, is the basis for everything else. Without self ownership you are left with varying degrees of slavery. There can be no other way. This is why I am against ALL forms of gov't because it is only a matter of diminishing degree that full ownership of the individuals is the end game.
The american experiment made a hearty effort of the flawed scheme of democracy, the idea that some get to rule others, but make no mistake it IS a flawed scheme. If you allow others to control even one tiny facet of your life you eventually forfeit all facets.

Ghost, the remark was a bit flippant but it speaks to how vulnerable we are to control by others.
Control begins with suggestions, recommendations, guidelines; moves up to directives, edicts, regulations, laws.
The muscle behind these methods of control escalate accordingly: kicked out of the group; overlooked for promotion or election; get fired; arrested, tried, convicted, confined; shot on sight.
As VW implied there are two ways to avoid control: don't get into any situation where you must obey directives and orders issued by others, like a lineup at a grocery store or gas pump,
stop signs and line markers in parking lots, time clocks and paychecks. The other way is to defend what is yours - that is what is within your perimeter or moving sphere of existence and to force your independence on whoever or whatever tries to make you comply with the rules, regulations, so forth.
Anarchy is like that:
1) a state of disorder due to absence or non-recognition of authority.
synonyms: lawlessness, nihilism, mobocracy, revolution, insurrection, disorder, chaos, mayhem, tumult, turmoil
antonyms: government, order
2) absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual, regarded as a political ideal.
