Those who have interpreted the photo as the man kicking the female iconic figure are wrong...
She is standing resolute and triumphant having delivered a knockout blow to the repressive male thief who is attempting to steal the jar in which she is collecting donations for the cause.

Boy oh boy, you guys all missed it. That's a father/daughter team of grifters playing one of the oldest games on the street.
She sets up and starts squawking about freedom and crap like that. The old man gets into it like Punch & Judy while a team of pickpockets works the crowd. A variation of the scam has the old man slipping and falling on some shopkeeper's front doorway and he starts screaming for a doctor and a lawyer. Sometimes the chick gets into it until the shopkeeper pays him off to get rid of him.
