Ahh. Cagney in White Heat. That final scene is about the best that cinema has on offer.

Is it wrong of me to wish that kind of stuff would just snap off when someone is taking a stupid picture?

And yeah, White Heat was a very, very good film.

If he had any nutz he'd BASE right off there and film it the whole way down.

While I'm addicted to noir I always thought Cagney was a farce as an actor. He said himself he wasn't an actor and was a born hoofer, and I agree.

Edward G Robinson (the model Soylent Green donor), now THAT was an actor.
See his extensive poison monologue in "Double Indemnity". You can't fake that stuff up.

How many of the clowns in Hollywood today could do what Cagney, Robinson, Bogy, Paul Muni, Kelly or Astaire did.

What's out there today are cardboard cutouts.

VW: not to mention all the stars that went to war in WWII, many in line units. Add Martha Ray, even Bob Hope.
