Comments: The Real "Doc" Holliday
There's no evidence that Doc Holliday ever shot anyone before the OK Corral shoot out. Not even stories of it or eyewitnesses. He possibly got by on the reputation of being someone with nothing to lose and fearless because of his condition and past life, which seems to have been quite tragic.

The best part of Kirk Douglas's interpretation of Doc Holliday was the part where his hoe pisses him off in the hotel room and he throws the knife in his hand at her, just missing her and sticking in the wall next to her skall. There's no fakin' that stuff.
Movies used to have actors.

Virgil testified that in the last moments, as everyone was reaching for their firearms, he exclaimed "Hold on, I don't want that." Too late. Once the firing began, it was a race to see who gets carried by six, or judged by 12.
I think that's why this story remains enduring. So well documented, so many layers, so much passion. It's got something for everybody. Southerners versus Unionists, Democrats versus Republicans, wild cowboys versus townies, rustlers versus the law, the perils of firearms confiscation.
Just remember the lesson. Once one firearm is drawn, anything can happen, and the race is on to the courthouse or the dirtnap.
