Boomer Anthems: "Satisfaction" is 50 Years Old

There was no melody, really. - Mick Jagger, 1995

True, to this day.

Mostly I like these Boomer Anthem threads. But Satisfaction? I forkin' HATED that song when I first heard it. It's like stuffing your nose with airplane glue, and running a cheese grater over your eardrums. Still gleefully hating the hell out of it fifty years later.

It was released from recording VERY quickly, because we were lip-synching to it in our HS cafeteria. Remember, school year ends early to mid June.

Let's see, Keef invents it, then everybody else votes him down. What a democracy!

I remember some radio stations wouldn't play it because of the suggestive lyrics "....tryin' to make some gurl....".

@Ghostsniper: Yup. And the line about "see me next week, 'cause you see, I'm on a losing streak" was interpreted to mean the girl was shooting him down because she was "on the rag".

So when's Louie Louie coming!

I didn't think any of the Rolling Stones were still alive, shrug.
Last time I heard any of their music was on an Osmonds tribute album.

"I didn't think any of the Rolling Stones were still alive"

They're not.

Absolutely the dumbest comments I've ever read. Moronic teenagers and 20-somethings.

Jace: Since you don't like us so much why don't you just fuck off.

I've got screwdrivers older than you and I know how to be polite when commenting.

I remember reading an article in "Rolling Stone" magazine, appropriately enough, back in the early Seventies. They asked Mick about the future of the band, and he said "I can't see myself singing "Satisfaction" when I'm forty!!"
He is still singing it at 71.
