They were holding positions of power in this country back then. Patton wanted to keep going, recognizing a true foe. They arranged his death for that observation.

True Fat Man, they were plotting and planning all along.
Oddly enough, Churchill, once we had beaten the Nazis, wanted to go after the Commies. FDR said no.
War isn't a nice thing, take my word for it. Fighting the same damn thing a second time won't improve it. It doesn't age well.
