Impact: Free Elections in Afghanistan

This is what the war on terror is all about, at least for me. You are most distinctly the man, Gerard, the wind beneath my frail bloggy wings. Thanks for the inspiration.

Perfectly put, Gerard.

I got into an argument with my most liberal brother last night about how much better off Afgans were today and how great it is that women can go to school, the country can have a free election, etc., and he opined that it was none of our business how people in other countries lived.

I then asked him if he would come to the aid of the woman living next door were her mate beating her, and he replied "yes." But when I pressed him, after his taking a moral position on treating women poorly, how he could ignore what happend to women under repressive regiems, he again replied that we should not interfere.

Of course, the women issue is a metaphor here, but you get the idea.

Ahh... The wisdom of liberals... Their selective morality...

My 21 yr. old Marine is in Iraq for second time, one son served in Desert Storm, and my husband is Vietnam Vet that thinks Kerry should have been charged with treason.

My family believes in fighting for our freedom and our country. I wanted to cry when I saw them voting in Afganistan, because now they can have their own freedom.

I grew up in a staunch Democrat family in Arkansas, but like Zell Miller. the party has gone to the dark side. The Democrats act and talk like they're from another planet. They wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit them on the ass and gave them rabies.

You are not alone in this. Many have come to this conclusion Pat, and hopefully many more will do so as well, after the election.

And thank you for your family's service to our country. Your son provide hope for us all in these dark times.

Pat, thank you for your family's contribution to our freedom. I was a lifelong Democrat also, but all that changed when I realized what was behind 911. For the first time in my life(I'm 59)I am voting for a Republican.
