My late father told me a story once -- it dates from his Civil Service days at what is now a part of Aberdeen Proving Ground, circa 1970. The office he worked in had an older black man named Mr. Black as the chief -- my father said that his name was appropriate because Mr. Black was as dark as the ace of spades. He was also rather old-school and dignified -- he was very definitely MISTER Black, unless he decided he liked you, in which case you could call him "Blackie".

There was a younger black man in the office, maybe 30 years old or so, and we'll call him "Smith". (His real name is rather distinctive -- I have no wish to cause him embarrassment if he has changed his ways.) "Smith" was in the habit of making time with the secretaries, reading the paper, drinking coffee, just about anything except his job. (This was in the days when you had to kill somebody before you could get fired from the Civil Service.) "Smith" had been counseled many times about his job performance (or lack thereof) by Mr. Black and others, but nothing could be done.

One day, Mr. Black caught "Smith" up to his usual tricks, and he "lost it" in front of God and everybody, right there in the middle of the office:

"God damn it, Smith! It's niggers like you that make the rest of us blacks look bad!"

Some people are not worth the powder to blow them up, Christopher. Unfortunately, it describes a lot of people here in Baltimore, and so many of them happen to be black, simply because Baltimore has so many blacks. It's not racism, it's simple arithmetic, and if it causes a person to feel "sad-puppy" inside, well, maybe that person needs to get a clue about how the world works. It's true enough that we Christians are called to love our neighbors. Nowhere is it written that we must like them and all their works.

Nobody commenting here and speaking of Blacks in a disparaging way is straying from facts and the results of riots in Ferguson, Baltimore, now New York City.
The reference to "Nigger Thugs" is taken from the way certain rebellious Blacks affectionately and proudly call themselves in their execrable rap music and in street patter.

Christopher, read the picture captions again. All the statements are true and acknowledging the sum of them does not make one a racist.

The question forming and perhaps being peremptorily answered by the buildup of federal troops in several border states with Operation Jade Helm — we should read the mission statement, much of the "exercise" is aimed at controlling the citizens — the question is "where do we draw the line?"
When the riots endanger our families and loved ones?
When driving through a neighborhood will get one beaten up, robbed, raped and then killed?
When more police are killed? BTW I disagree with ghostsniper, not all cops are "jackbooted thugs". There's bad ones and the majority are good guys.
I want them on my side when the shooting starts.
Anyway I think the response to the riots and mayhem should be actively addressed, not with in-a-perfect-world we should all be brothers and love one another but with the level of rebuke set by the criminal offenders themselves.
I am a Christian and I have run out of cheeks to turn. I hearken back to the Old Testament where an eye for an eye was just punishment according to God.
The Hebrews back then knew how to deal with enemies of the Lord.
They would mount an army and "in one day forty and four thousand were slain" and their villages would be razed and their crops burned, &c.

Play the mental exercise: substitute "white" for "black" in that article, the pictures and captions, and there would be lynch mobs after them.
I bet even the media would report on it.

The problem is, as I see it, with regard to the move to evolve regular law enforcement to a more militaristic mode, people spoiling for a fight on all sides are just playing into their hands.

They WANT blacks to get all stirred up and rioting, and they WANT everyone who opposes that response to get all stirred up and cleaning their legally-owned guns, girding their loins and saying , "Bring it!" They want things to get hot and dangerous so they can move in and impose control over EVERYONE.

We need to keep our powder dry but stay clear-eyed and cold. Don't play into their hands.
