Note to Self: Not All 18th Century Art Was Created Equal

Still crazy, after all these years.

Any idea where the Japanese print came from? Is it actually from that time period?

Is it possible to find a larger resolution version so I can see it?

OK, did my due diligence with Tineye.

The artist was Kawanabe Kyosai (May 18, 1831–April 26, 1889), so 19th century, not 17th. That image seems to be legitimate, although I cannot find a good color scan. It may be of Nobuhide, a sword maker of the time.

All those countries have lost wars in their history.
Not drawing any conclusions ... I was never any good at straight lines.

Where's a sample of American art from that period?
Give us a hand DJ.
