Comments: Remember Prometheus

What makes a man into a 'Monster/Giant/Titan'?

Anything that amplifies their 'will' over others: The projection of Self-Power.

Non Allegorically/Metaphorically/Symbolically Transmutated forms of this power would be Money, Knowledge (in its myriad forms), Politics, Social Status, Military status (etc...) are tools for this amplification. These tools are morally neutral until wielded properly (or improperly) by the wielder. How they wield it determines what 'form' they take - depending on the point of reference of the 'tale-teller'.

What makes a man into a 'hero'?

Its an ordinary man who beats/destroys the Giant/Titan/Monster or overcomes/endures a remarkable hazard, of course, many times freeing his the people of their suffering or lives with a bountious reward afterwards.

Mary Shelly's novel is a God-awful tedious chore to read. Corny as all hell, too. The movie is the rare case when Hollywood improved on the original work. And no one has been able to do a successful re-make of the old Boris Karloff classic.
