I love the way the media talk about this city and that city in those central African countries. In most of them, there is at most one settlement worthy of being called a city. All other settlements are clearings where people have built a collection of mud huts.

This is one of the threats that once seemed unlikely, but is suddenly starting to emerge. One way to blunt the emerging threat would be to stop sending aid to these countries. It is the main source of longer lives and higher birth rates. Instead, show them how to reform. That means reasonably honest representative government that defends private property rights, rule of law, and free enterprise. If they won't change their ways, too bad.

GS, ain't never been and never will be, short of the second coming, a totally honest representative government. Don't believe me. Check out the honesty of governments over the ages. Reasonably honest, given human proclivities, is better than most. If a government is truly representative, elections are close to being honest, the majority believes in the principles of private property/rule of law/free enterprise; you have the possibility of a prosperous society. I know that doesn't quite square up with your Libertarian disposition. So be it. Win some elections so you can test out the viability of Libertarianism.
Better yet, travel to Africa, Latin America, or the Middle East and observe the way their governments work these days. You will thank God you were born in the USA.

@Jimmy, your first sentence: True, that's why I'll have nothing to do with any of it.
People that sanction dishonesty (voters) need to be severely and violently victimized by it.
Get rid of the ridiculously retarded enablers and everybody else will be better off.
