I have also always had a love affair with maps, for as long as I can remember being able to read. When I was all of eight, the very sidewalks were maps, the cracks were the borders, the puddles uncharted seas, and the clumps of weeds were great forests peopled by ants and I was their merciless lord.
Many happy school days were wasted drawing maps on paper that should have been filled with math problems and sentences.
I once made a relief map of the Alps out of papier-mâché on the floor of my bedroom. My father was pretty upset about it, and scraped it all up, but I had to paint the floor as a punishment.
I was lucky enough to find a man who loved maps as much as I. Being his navigator on trips is fun.

I love this.
I never had a proper appreciation of maps until I worked fore a land surveyor. I learned how to plot distance and bearings from it and am able to draw map of a property from the legal description at the county courthouse. Maps are magic.

I love maps too. Have many, many maps and guide books in my library. Maybe I can will them to the Los Angeles library. My offspring don't want them.

A peaceful island in the midst of a stormy sea. I loved it. Some people have all the maps! Dream job.

I chose this song because it talks about pushing yourself when things get hard. Anyone can show up, that’s easy. Anyone can put in the effort, that’s also easy. But how many people can keep going when all they want to do is quit?
