Comments: Most people also assume that recycling plastic bottles must be doing lots for the planet.

I don't recycle because I am trying to save the planet. It just makes more sense than throwing them in a pile and hoping they go away.

I took a whole truck bed full of plastic to the recycler, guess I was feeling gay that day, and left the recycler with 2/3 of it.

Turns out they only take certain kinds of plastic. They gave me a document to educate myself on the proper types of stuff to take there.

I was only willing to play their game to a point. I drove to the dump and threw all of out, including the unread document.

Oh yeah, while at the recycler I saw a sign on the wall stating stuff about how much gov't funding they get, which is the reason why they can be so choosy about what they accept - they're all getting paid (from stolen money) anyway whether they recycle any plastic or not.

Another gov't make-work project.

Our big-deal, high tech, year-old recycling operation just closed down. Can't sell the stuff and break even, even with a $20/month fee tacked onto the solid waste collection fee for about 100,000 households. Never did look into how much taxpayer money front-ended this boondoggle, but I suspect it was plenty.

The only recycled product of commercial value is cardboard. The rest, if you think they're recycling it think again. It's going into the landfill.

The only viable use for all that recyclable stuff is shoving it up the ass of the Greenies. That would keep it out of the landfills.

"The next time you say, "Coca-Cola", just remember that in the one second it took you to say those two words, 200 plastic Coke bottles were dumped in a landfill somewhere in the USA -- 200 every second, 700,000 every hour, 17 million every day, more than 6 billion every year -- all at taxpayers expense."
