Comments: Libertarians have built an entire philosophy around avoiding contact with the enemy.

Libertarianism is a political philosophy that upholds liberty as its principal objective.

Libertarians seek to maximize autonomy and freedom of choice, emphasizing political freedom, voluntary association, and the primacy of individual judgment.

Libertarians generally share a skepticism of authority; however, they diverge on the scope of their opposition to existing political and economic systems.

Rather than embodying a singular, rigid systematic theory or ideology, libertarianism has been applied as an umbrella term to a wide range of sometimes discordant political ideas through modern history.

So let's see if I have this right:

1- Libertarians make sure they have no commitment to government or society. That way they are not held responsible for anything that happens;

2- They "do their own thing" and mind their own business;

3- They do not hesitate to reap the rewards that others have earned on social or political issues;

4- They are reluctant to pay taxes but eager to enjoy the benefits of said taxes;

Kinda like a free ride.

No, not kinda like a free ride.

Aren't you reluctant to pay taxes? Don't you do all that you can to pay as little taxes as possible? If so, using your theory, YOU are wanting a free ride and therefore MUST libertarian.

When you pigeonhole people into little pre-manufactured boxes of sameness you also box in yourself. That's my adaptation of "That Woman's" notion, "When you leash a dog you leash yourself".

You can call it whatever pacify's your feelings but at the end of the day forcing people to surrender their property just because, is theft plain and simple, and any establishment based in criminality as such cannot last indefinitely - it is doomed to fail eventually.

No, I don't have any solutions for how to make democracy better for I believe it is a flawed system, so don't ask. The only solution I have for anyone in this regard is to live your life to the best of your ability and do only what is entirely unavoidable to sustain this ongoing tyranny - help it to die on the vine. Living your life thusly places you far above the boiling bacteria's beneath you, and that is a good thing, maybe the best you can achieve.

Well, I admit I am a bit confused.

Just how do Libertarians contribute to society?

Now I'm confused.
I don't understand the question.

Roads and other infrastructure, schools, police and fire departments, hospitals, anything that is subsidized by DC.
Military guarding against invasions of turbaned ruffians, satellites, public transit or subsidized rail travel.

Those are some of the ways we benefit from society and government.

What do Libertarians give in return?

OK, I'll fill in the blanks.

If you let gov't stealers steal your property it is considered contributing to society and is therefore a good thing.

And if you don't let gov't stealers steal your property it is considered NOT contributing to society and is therefore a bad thing.

But, if you blow the head off a regular old street stealer while he is trying to steal your property that is a good thing.

I've never learned the art of distinguishing good stealers from bad stealers. Sorry.

Nobody gets to assign me to arbitrary societies and then charge me enormous sums for it.

I wouldn't do that to you nor you to me but for reasons I can't fathom you seem to be OK with faceless thieves in distant lands doing it to both of us.
