Boomer Anthems: Volunteers by The Jefferson Airplane

Say it like It is
Sing it like It is
Pray it like It is
In essence you are what It is.
The proof is left to the student.

Jesus, that video.

The "60s" were about 7 years of being forced to listen to some brat pitching a tantrum, and then being treated to the spectacle of their rhapsodizing about the experience in terms of high art. Keep mulling over that Yuri Bezhmenov video where he explains the takeover of Western civilization by the denigration of its culture. That vid is exhibit one.

Thank Christ that's over.

Liked the music, fashions, and looser attitudes towards the body, sex, and "consciousness expansion."
Disliked the stupid Left politics, dirtiness, and laziness.
Like it or not, we'll be feeling that era's effects for a long, long time.

Elvis got invited to the White House? Still waiting for my invitation...but would reject such if it was from the current president.

Surrealistic Pillow is still one of the finest rock albums of all time. As for the rest of Jefferson Airplane, and the whole San Fran acid rock 60's thang- What was true for me then is true now. I loved the psychedelia- still have fond memories of dropping acid out on Stinson Beach. But even then I despised the politics. The radicals destroyed the whole vibe.
What I find amusing currently is hearing the woefully unhappy Gen X crowd wailing and moaning and blaming everything that is wrong with the world on the Boomers. Just like the whiners of my day blamed it all on "The Establishment". Too bad I won't be around to hear the current generation of tattooed monstrosities blaming all their woes on Gen X. What goes around...
Sometimes you just gotta' laugh.

Yes, Surrealistic Pillow is one of the finest rock albums of all time and I loved and still love his voice. Didn't pay any attention to the politics.

Never "got into" the airplane but it was refreshing to hear Paul dissing drugs & alcohol.
I suppose we all grow up...
