Comments: What is the fastest speed of any object on the earth?
May 1976, Bad Tolz, Germany.
A 24" cast iron industrial grade pressure cooker lid with 8.8lbs of C4 on the backside was leaned slightly backwards against a 4' dia oak tree in the woods. Upon detonation the sound barrier was exceeded instantly, that oak tree was uprooted and tilting heavily, a 200'+ long ditch was carved in the earth, a giant pine tree was severed and a discarded VW was pierced all the way through from front to back. Though 100+ soldiers searched for several hours that lid was never found and my respect for manufactured demolitions expanded several fold.
A short while later a guy from ADM told me about the enhanced homemade stuff.
