"To see the farm is to leave it." The Story of Your Enslavement

They left out the most ingenious of devices ever invented for instilling fear and ensuring profit:

Insurance.

The most massive scam ever discovered by the mind of Satan - "If you give us money, we'll let you feel you've cheated the future. Won't that be grand?" It's like a lottery, wherein the only way you can win is if you lose. Big. A catastrophic illness? You'll get some of your money back. A fatal accident? Somebody else will get some of your money back.

If your house burns down, YOU WIN! Otherwise, we do, in perpetuity or until you wise up and cancel the policy. But if you do that, you'll have to worry about mortality again. And just to make you feel better, remember it's for your own good, because......The Government is making it mandatory.

Don't you feel safer now? Give us your money.

What it really leaves out is the corruption in the hearts of all whether "farmer" or "cow". It is a very interesting presentation but it almost sounds like communist propaganda as it certainly is an appeal to a struggle between classes.

There is a lot of truth in the presentation, but it reminded me of those feminists who claim that marriage enslaves women because they subjugate their wills to their husbands and children and families. The joy which comes from a loving bond (husband-wife, parent-child, neighbor-neighbor, even labor-management is possible!) seems lost on this presenter. Every bond in society entails some loss of individual freedom. The simple solution to the problem is love. In the absence of love, coercion and control are the default setting. And of course, none of us really know how to love.

You forgot about common goals and interests, empathy, concern.

Love alone is never enough.

Respond to kindness with kindness and to aggression with justice, so sez Confucious.
To enforce justice we must organize as necessary.
The means do not justify the ends; every means must be justified as necessary. If the ends are not justified, change your ends until they are.
Is what's necessary too complicated?, then crawl back into the womb and await your abortion.

"You forgot about common goals and interests, empathy, concern.
Love alone is never enough."

Common goals and interests are breeding grounds for love, aren't they? Not the only ones, of course, but for most of us that's where it starts. Empathy and concern are some expressions of love, right?

Yes, love; God's love, agape love is always enough. But none of us really know how to love. Our hope is that we can be taught. That involves dying ourselves and most of us don't want to go there. Whether we're "farmers" or "cows" we'd rather kill.

Loved Rob's comments RE: Insurance. Nothing like betting against oneself! Welcome to the Matrix.
